He said the board held a public hearing on April 17 with 45 people in the <br /> 3 audience and comments were generally in favor of moving forward with the fire service districts <br /> 4 as outlined. <br /> 5 He reviewed actions taken and said the town of Carrboro has agreed to provide service <br /> 6 in the South Orange Fire Insurance District, and Chapel Hill has agreed to provide service in <br /> 7 the greater Chapel Hill Service District. <br /> 8 He said the approval by the North Chatham Fire Department will likely come in the first <br /> 9 ten days of May and the maps for the insurance districts have been approved by the State Fire <br /> 10 Marshall's office, but it will take four to six months to gain approval for the change in the ISO <br /> 11 ratings to become effective. He said the recommendation from the manager is to approve the <br /> 12 three resolutions establishing the three new fire service districts. <br /> 13 He said Commissioner Gordon handed out a revised recommendation and the county <br /> 14 attorney said that it is acceptable and achieves same purpose as the original. <br /> 15 Commissioner Gordon requested that her email questions and comments regarding this <br /> 16 item be entered into the record as follows: <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Questions and Comments from Commissioner Gordon - Agenda Item 7a - April 23, 2013 <br /> 19 <br /> 20 This item deals with the establishment of three new fire service districts and approval of new <br /> 21 boundaries for three existing fire insurance districts. Right now there are six actions but only four maps, and sometimes it appears that the <br /> 28 maps listed in the agenda materials are not the same as the maps actually included in the <br /> 29 agenda packet. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Given below is the listing of the Attachments, followed by a description of the maps and <br /> 32 resolutions. If you compare the descriptions of the four attachments with the descriptions of the <br /> 33 maps and resolutions, it appears that the South Orange and Greater Chapel Hill fire districts <br /> 34 need clarification. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 (A) Attachments - Page 1 <br /> 37 The four attachments on page 1 reference the fire districts as follows: <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Attachment 1 - Resolution to Establish the South Orange Fire Service District and Map <br /> 40 Attachment 2 - Resolution to Establish the Greater Chapel Hill Fire Service District and Map <br /> 41 Attachment 3 - Resolution to Establish the Southern Triangle Fire Service District and Map <br /> 42 Attachment 4 - New North Chatham Fire Insurance District <br /> 43 <br /> 44 After reading this, one would expect to see three fire service district maps, followed by one fire <br /> 45 insurance district map.
