' ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT 0,55
306F REVERE ROAD
HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278
1?tH M•
Y
 D
January 28, 1498 `...''
Moorefields,c/o
Mr.Barry Jacobs
2105 Moorefields Road
Hillsborough,NC 27278
Re: Local Landmark Designation of the Moorefields Estate
Dear Mr.Jacobs:
Thank you for granting us permission to proceed with the above-referenced designation. Please accept my
apology for the lengthy delay in contacting you about the landmark designation process. Unexpected
personnel changes in our department have forced us to alter the completion dates for several projects.
However, historic designation of your property remains a priority, and I am glad to inform you that we are
proceeding with this effort.
At the February 25, 1998 meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission(HPC),a report on the proposed
landmark designation of Moorefields will be considered. If the report is accepted by the HPC, it will be
forwarded to the State Historic Preservation Office,North Carolina Division of Archives and History, for
review and comment. The State has 30 days in which to comment upon the report. Upon return of their
comments, the Historic Preservation Commission may forward a request to the Orange County Board of
Commissioners to adopt an ordinance designating Moorefields as a County Historic Landmark.
You will be notified by mail approximately one week prior to the February HPC meeting.
Again,I apologize for the delay. Please be assured that the process is underway. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to call me at 732-8181,extension 2594.
Sincerely,
6da4l
Donald R Belk,AICP
Preservation Planner
ldb
