In accordance with Section 1.7 of this <br /> Ordinance, the Historic Preservation Commission may recommend to the County <br /> Commissioners areas to be designated by ordinance as "historic districts" and <br /> individual structures, buildings, sites, areas or objects to be designated by <br /> ordinance as "landmarks". Article 3 of the Historic Preservation Ordinance <br /> describes the procedure for designating local historic landmarks. <br /> The Orange County Historic Preservation Plan, an element of the Orange County <br /> Comprehensive Plan, was adopted in April 1996. The Preservation Plan guides the <br /> County's historic preservation activities by providing an outline of goals, objectives, <br /> and action strategies that serve as a program of work for the Orange County Historic <br /> Preservation Commission.
