Funding Recommendation Highlights <br />1) Nine (9) agencies have been recommended for funding increases <br />Outside Agency <br />FY 2012 -13 <br />Approved <br />FY 2013 -14 <br />Recommended <br />Chapel Hill/ Carrboro YMCA <br />$2,000 <br />$5,000 <br />Will begin intervention services for youths <br />Boomerang <br />(e.g. trauma, substance abuse and learning <br />disabilities). <br />Charles House <br />$12,000 <br />$15,000 <br />To increase financial assistance for <br />scholarship recipients, at the daytime <br />eldercare center. <br />El Centro Hispano <br />$17,000 <br />$20,000 <br />Will increase support and educational <br />services, for members of the Latino <br />community. <br />Orange Congregations in <br />$35,000 <br />$38,000 <br />To increase staff support, for food pantry <br />Mission (OCIM) <br />assistance, to meet the growing demand for <br />food requests. <br />EmPOWERment <br />$13,000 <br />$15,000 <br />Additional support for administrative staff, <br />who secures temporary and permanent <br />affordable housing solutions, for clients. <br />Freedom House <br />$28,000 <br />$29,000 <br />To fund the expansion of substance abuse <br />services and supportive housing. <br />Alliance of AIDS Services <br />$2,500 <br />$3,000 <br />Will fund operational increases for resident <br />care, at the Orange House. <br />Chapel Hill / Carrboro Meals <br />$1,500 <br />$2,000 <br />To support the increased meal demand, for <br />on Wheels <br />senior adults and people with disabilities. <br />A Helping Hand <br />$1,600 <br />$2,000 <br />To increase the visibility and knowledge of <br />available services and fund additional direct <br />services costs. <br />2) Three (3) new agencies received funding recommendations. <br />FY 2012 -13 FY 2013 -14 <br />Outside Agency Approved Recommended <br />Community Empowerment - $5,000 Will provide one -on -one assistance to <br />Fund residents facing homelessness through <br />relocation, employment and financial <br />education assistance. <br />Farmer Foodshare - $5,000 To procure fresh, locally grown food for food <br />pantries and social services agencies. <br />Human Rights Center - $1,000 Supports the equitable treatment of <br />disadvantaged minorities, who are Orange <br />County residents. <br />
