55 <br />Animal Control Ordinance <br />(8) Keep, or cause to be kept, accurate and detailed records of- <br />i. Seizure, impoundment, and disposition of all animals coming into the <br />custody of the animal control program. <br />ii. Bite cases, violations and complaints, and investigation of same, <br />including names and addresses of persons bitten, date, circumstances, <br />and breed. <br />iii. Any other matters deemed necessary by the Animal Services Director. <br />(9) Be empowered to issue citations or notices of violation of this Ordinance <br />in such form as the Animal Services Director may prescribe. <br />(10)Have employees who are trained to standards to be established by the <br />Animal Services Director, which training shall include, but not be limited <br />to, training in animal first aid taught by a licensed veterinarian. <br />(11)The premises for all Animal Shelters operated by or for the County shall <br />meet the standards prescribed for commercial (Class 11) kennels set out in <br />Section 4 -72 of this Ordinance. <br />(12)The standards applicable to vehicles and care in transportation set out in <br />Section 4 -98 apply to Animal Control Officers collecting, transporting, or <br />holding animals in this County. <br />(0 (. q 6m46m.. /987, � V111, el <br />♦ 0 In r , <br />Nothing in this Ordinance is intended to be in conflict with the laws of the State <br />of North Carolina regulating, restricting, authorizing or otherwise affecting dogs while <br />used in hunting, but this exception applies only while the dogs are under the control of <br />the owner, keeper, or competent person, and are actually lawfully being used for hunting <br />or training for hunting in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, or ordinances. <br />This Ordinance should be read and enforced consistent with any such law. <br />(00(1. qf C7+m...0 C.7+m...0 :^ 8 / , §1X, c. ° " .1-4-88) <br />4-40. <br />It shall be unlawful for any person who causes injury to an animal, including but <br />not limited to, running over or hitting the animal with any vehicle, to fail to notify <br />immediately at least one of the following: <br />(1) The owner(s) or keeper(s) of the animal (if known or ascertainable with reasonable <br />efforts made to locate the owner or keeper), <br />DRAFT 2 #, OA . #/ 09 - 5/ 30/ 2013 00 R. 1111 <br />
