e Animal Control Ordinance Sec. 4 -46. - Rabies control. It shall be unlawful and a violation of this Ordinance for any animal owner, keeper or other person to fail to comply with the laws of North Carolina relating to the control of rabies. (0i d. of F -16 -1 °787, y� X Pl, eff Sec. 4 -47. - Rabies vaccination tag. All dogs aiid eats shall wear a valid rabies vaccination tag. Cats and ferrets are not required to wear tags but the owner or custodian of such animal shall provide proof that the cat or ferret has been vaccinated against rabies. The owner or custodian of all animals required to be vaccinated against rabies shall provide proof of vaccination upon demand of a law enforcement or animal control officer if an animal required to be vaccinated is not wearing a rabies vaccination tag. Failure to produce proof of vaccination may result in such animal being impounded subject to redemption in the manner provided in this Chapter. Such proof being the certificate of vaccination from a licensed veterinarian or a certified rabies vaccinator. Hospitals, clinics and other premises operated by licensed veterinarians for the care and treatment of animals are exempt from the provisions of this Ordinance except for the provisions relating to cruelty to animals and rabies control. Sec. 4 -51. - Penalties. The following penalties shall pertain to violations of this Ordinance. (a) The violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be a misdemeanor and any person convicted of such violation shall be punishable as provided in North Carolina General Statutes § 14 -4, or other applicable law. Each day's violation of this Ordinance is a separate offense. Payment of a fine imposed in criminal proceedings pursuant to this subsection does not relieve a person of his liability for taxes, fees or civil penalties imposed under this Ordinance.
