<br />Triangle Area Feral Planning Organization Regional Profile
<br />The Triangle Area RAral Ranning Organization (TARPO) region encompasses the four following counties
<br />in North Carolina: Chatham (partial), Orange (partial), Lee, and Moore. The partsof Chatham and
<br />Orange Countiesthat are not part of TAFFOare included in the Durham - Chapel Hill - Carrboro
<br />Metropolitan Ranning Organization ( DCHCM PO) for northeastern Chatham and southeastern/ central
<br />Orange, or the Burlington- Graham Metropolitan Ranning Organization (BGM PO) for west - central
<br />Orange.
<br />At the time of the 2010 Census, the combined population of the four TAFFO counties was 343,419,
<br />which represented a 19% increase over the population in 2000. Approximately 209,023 of these
<br />residents lived within the TARPO area, with the remainder living in the DCHCM FO and BGM PO areas.
<br />The following table and graphs show the population totals for each county and include the breakdown
<br />by urbanized areas (densely - populated areaswith more than 50,000 population), urban dusters
<br />(densely - populated areaswith 2,500 to 49,999 population), and rural areas.
