Transportation Division (NCDOT -PTD). The following activities have been conducted as part of this plan <br />update: <br />• A review of the 2009 plan document; <br />• Collection and development of updated demographic data and mapping, using information from <br />the 2010 Census and the 2007 -2011 American Community &Arvey five -year dataset (most recent <br />available); <br />• Collection of updated transit service statistics for the region, as reported to NCDOTfor the years <br />2010 -2012; <br />• Two half -day workshops with stakeholders and interested citizens in the region, to identify <br />needs, strategies, and priorities. One workshop focused on Lee and Moore Counties while the <br />other focused on Chatham and Orange Counties, <br />• Asurvey (both hard copy and online2) to collect information from stakeholders and interested <br />citizens in the region; <br />• Awebsite with links to the 2009 plan, the online survey, and information on the two workshops; <br />and <br />• Documentation of the outcome of the surveys and workshops. <br />Stakeholder workshopswere held in Sanford on April 25, 2013, and Chapel Hill on April 26, 2013. <br />Invitations were sent to a broad range of individuals identified as stakeholders by the transit agencies <br />within each county. Additionally, public notices were sent out to media organizations and the workshop <br />information was posted on the TAFFOwebsite. For a list of invitees and attendees for these workshops, <br />please see Appendix A <br />The workshops consisted of small group exercises intended to identify needs, identify potential <br />strategies to address those needs, and prioritize the strategies for implementation. Therewerefour <br />exercises: (1) a brainstorm among all participants in attendance regarding transit needs in the region; (2) <br />a small group exercise examining potential strategiesthat could be used to address the identified needs; <br />(3) a small group exercise mapping location- specific strategies; and (4) a prioritization voting exercise <br />among all the participants, to identify the highest - priority strategiesfor implementation in the near - <br />term. The information that came out of these two workshops and the information gathered from the <br />survey serve as the primary basis for developing the recommendations found in this plan. <br />The plan was adopted by each of the following boards on the dates noted: <br />Chatham Transit Network Board of Directors— DATE <br />Lee County Board of Commissioners— DATE <br />Moore County Board of Commissioners —DATE <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners— DATE <br />2 Online survey is no longer active, following project completion.
