Animal Services - continued <br />FY 2013 -14 Objectives <br />• Complete the ongoing effort to create a unified animal control ordinance with other County <br />staff as well as staff from different municipalities. <br />• Implement a method for managing response times for select categories of services and <br />develop a "priority" category. <br />• Establish an appropriate radio communication system for field services to improve efficiency <br />and effectiveness and enhance officer safety. <br />• Inintiate public outreach about the kennel permit process based upon a dedicated webpage <br />and informational handout. <br />Implement animal control services for the Town of Carrboro effective July 1, 2013, and <br />continue to effectively manage all contract services. <br />Budget Highlights <br />The FY 2013 -14 Commissioner Approved Budget includes a new Animal Control Officer <br />position (1.0 FTE) dedicated to the Town of Carrboro. The direct personnel, operating, and <br />capital outlay costs for the position ($58,222) will be paid by the Town. <br />The increase in revenues for FY 2013 -14 includes an Agreement with the Town of Carrboro <br />to provide animal control services ($58,222), and an increase of $11,089 in the amount of <br />the Hillsborough animal control agreement, based on a correction to the indirect costs <br />calculation. <br />:Y/ <br />
