Department on Aging - continued <br />Department on Aging: Administration <br />Major Services <br />• Supervise and coordinate professional program division staff and provide clerical support, <br />financial/ program accounting and shared resources for the various program divisions <br />• Provide administrative support to the Orange County Advisory Board on Aging, and special focus <br />advocacy boards and subcommittees. <br />• Research, plan, develop and implement new programs and services to meet the changing or <br />emerging needs of older adults as adopted in the Master Aging Plan (MAP). <br />• Advocate and inform the public and private community groups about the concerns and interests of <br />older adults in concert with the Orange County Advisory Board on Aging. <br />• Prepare grant applications, proposals and reports for the funding and administration of the <br />Department. <br />• Coordinate departmental resources with other County departments and private agencies. <br />FY 2012 -13 Outcomes <br />Initiated 38 of the 41 strategies identified in 2012 -2017 Master Aging Plan for Year One, including: <br />■ Conducted a polling place survey, which captured the input of 850 residents 50 years and <br />older throughout Orange County. <br />■ Utilized UNC School of Public Health graduate student Capstone Team to assist in the <br />research, planning, and implementation of a MAP strategy for health promotion and an <br />information dissemination plan for the Department. <br />■ Submitted applications for federal and state funding to support MAP objectives related to <br />access, outreach, and caregiver support. <br />Promoted the development of the Community Resource Connection (CRC) for aging services in <br />the Orange /Chatham area that promotes the "no wrong door" model of access to services. <br />Performance Measures 2010 -11 2011 -12 2012 -13 2012 -13 2013 -14 <br />Actual Actual Budget Projected Budget <br />Service: Prepare grant applications, proposals and reports for the funding and administration of the <br />Department. <br />Funds secured from federal, state and $631,104 $558,572 $707,309 $744,855 $707,309 <br />local public /private sources <br />FY 2013 -14 Objectives <br />Implement Master Aging Plan 2012 -2017 Objectives for Year Two, including: <br />• Initiate a countywide social marketing plan for the Department on Aging. <br />• Launch the Project Engaged volunteer effort to disseminate information to key community leaders <br />throughout Orange County. <br />• Develop a health promotion campaign as outlined in the Capstone Team plan. <br />• Conduct a senior housing options study in conjunction with the Housing /Community Development <br />and Planning Departments. <br />6.771; <br />
