Public Safety Non- Departmentals - continued <br />Volunteers for Youth $86,325 <br />This agency allows delinquent youths the opportunity to repay society for their destructive <br />behavior. Through community service, young people are taught accountability for their actions <br />and respect for the rights of others. By working one -on -one with the volunteer work -site <br />supervisors, they develop job skills and explore career opportunities, which ultimately help to <br />build self- esteem. Community service /restitution programs have proven to be one of the most <br />effective types of programming in preventing court involvement. This program proposes to <br />serve youth with community service placements to fulfill their court requirements. <br />Wrenn /Haven House $9,185 <br />Provides a temporary shelter for at risk court involved youth. The youth are provided high level <br />structured learning environment to increase their ability to academically achieve. In addition to a <br />safe place for youth, one on one, group and peer mentoring is available that encourages youth <br />to have age appropriate behavior and associations with other peers. <br />Young Warriors $18,222 <br />This program takes referrals from juvenile justice on diversion plans, court supervision, gang <br />involved, and at -risk youth. This program provides instruction in health, self- esteem and <br />discipline while instilling karate training. Court referred youth are ordered to attend 20 classes in <br />10 weeks. <br />271 <br />
