Human Services - continued <br />The increased funding approved in FY 2013 -14 is to support their "A Brush with Kindness" <br />program. <br />Housing for New Hope $20,000 <br />The organization's mission is to prevent and end homelessness by providing increased access <br />to Healthcare, Integrated Services, and Housing. The goal of Housing for New Hope programs <br />are to provide homeless individuals and those at risk of homelessness with services, support, <br />financial assistance, and affordable housing options to ensure that they can obtain and maintain <br />a permanent place to live. <br />Human Rights Center of Chapel Hill and Carrboro $1,000 <br />To promote inter - cultural understanding and peoples' full recognition of the dignity and <br />fundamental rights of the others across the many lines that divide; race, ethnicity, class, <br />nationality, and religion <br />Human Services Administration $5,000 <br />These funds will enhance the Outside Agency funding process and aid capacity building, within <br />funded agencies. Orange County staff will work with funded agencies to leverage community <br />resources and build administrative capacity, for both groups. Funds will provide technical <br />assistance in the areas of organizational development, collaboration and community <br />engagement. Funds will not sponsor the direct provision of agency services. <br />Inter -Faith Council for Social Service (IFC) $41,000 <br />The IFC meets basic needs and helps individuals and families achieve their goals. They provide <br />shelter, food, direct services, advocacy and information to people in need. The IFC <br />accomplishes this through strong partnerships with volunteers, staff and those we serve. They <br />rely on the active involvement of caring individuals, congregations and other community <br />organizations. <br />Joint Orange- Chatham Community Action ( JOCCA) <br />M <br />JOCCA provides services to very low- income families and individuals with the goal of improving <br />their quality of every day life. JOCCA offers the following services (1) nutrition and aging; (2) <br />self- sufficiency services; (3) job training and employment; (4) community based assistance and <br />teen court for youth offenders; and (5) energy conservation /weatherization and heating <br />assistance. JOCCA is recommended for defunding, in FY 2013 -14. <br />KidSCope $75,000 <br />KidSCope is an early intervention program that offers services to young children who are <br />experiencing social, emotional, and /or behavioral difficulties. Main service components include <br />individual play therapy with children, customized counseling and education for families, <br />technical assistance and training for childcare providers, service coordination and a therapeutic <br />preschool program. <br />Marian Cheek Jackson Center $4,500 <br />The Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History was established in 2008 to <br />preserve, to engage, and to act on the rich history of Northside and Pine Knolls.
