Human Services - continued <br />Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA Boomerang $5,000 <br />Boomerang is an alternative suspension program for middle and high school students. These <br />funds will (i) cover transportation costs for court- involved youth in Orange County that are <br />mandated to attend Boomerang, and for students from the Orange County Schools district; (ii) <br />purchase supplies for afterschool community service projects; and, (iii) a desktop computer for <br />students to log -in their arrivals, departures, community service /service learning hours, and drop - <br />ins. This agency receives a county match through the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />(JCPC) program; see the Public Safety Non - Departmental Section for more details. <br />Charles House $15,000 <br />Charles House is an adult day care facility located in Carrboro whose goals are to prolong the <br />independence of older adults with disabilities and to provide respite for their caregivers. The <br />facility has a capacity for 19 older adults and has had a waiting list since June of 2000. <br />Child Care Services Association <br />The Child Care Services Association seeks to ensure that <br />family's gross earning are used to purchase childcare for <br />childcare is available for all young children and their families. <br />Club Nova <br />$0 <br />affordable (no more than 10% of a <br />one child), accessible, high quality <br />$75,000 <br />Club Nova serves adults in Orange County living with severe and persistent mental illness and <br />provide them with structured daily activities, as well as social, vocational and residential <br />opportunities that they would not otherwise have. <br />Community Empowerment Fund $5,000 <br />The Community Empowerment Fund (CEF) cultivates opportunities, assets and communities <br />that support the alleviation of homelessness and poverty. CEF is a student - powered nonprofit <br />that pairs two volunteers with all of our members to provide personalized, one -on -one <br />assistance. <br />Community Home Trust <br />$149,000 <br />Community Home Trust is a nonprofit provider of affordable housing. Its mission is to create and <br />maintain permanently affordable housing. We implement the inclusionary housing policies of <br />local governments. We are asking for the same level of operating support to enable the <br />organization to manage the more than 200 permanently affordable homes. While the agency's <br />funding is budgeted in the Human Services Non - Departmental accounts, the Department of <br />Housing, Human Rights and Community Development administer its contract. <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County $102,000 <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) is a "stay -in- school" program that <br />coordinates human services delivery to middle school and high school youth and their families. <br />The goal of the agency is to offer students successful learning environments and encourage <br />them to stay in school and prepare for life. The agency's Middle School After School Program <br />(MSAS) provides educational, social and recreational activities for middle school students <br />during the after school hours.
