Visitors Bureau Fund - continued <br />Visitors Bureau Fund: Arts Commission <br />Major Services <br />Write grants primarily to NC Arts Council for funding and distribute arts grants to nonprofit <br />organizations, schools and individual artists via two Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) <br />grant cycles per year. <br />Provide information to the public on local arts resources via website, email, e- newsletter, online <br />arts calendar, telephone contacts, personal consultations, group workshops, meetings, etc. <br />Manage comprehensive database of Orange County artists and organizations, including its online <br />component. <br />• Offer free workshops on professional /skills development for artists and arts administrators (Artists' <br />Salons, Grants Information Sessions, training for use of online arts calendar, etc.). <br />Administer Orange County component of Triangle -wide arts programs (Congressional High School <br />Arts Competition, Emerging Artists Program, Piedmont Laureate Program, etc.). <br />With Advisory Board, facilitate planning of arts projects in Orange County guided by BOCC goals <br />FY 2012 -13 Outcomes <br />Increased public awareness of local arts events, programs and individual artists' work, primarily by <br />online arts calendar. Distributed 8,000 Artists' Salon postcards annually and 600 press releases. <br />Fielded 1,000 information and referral requests. <br />Increased quality of grant applications from artists and arts organizations by conducting 2 grant - <br />writing sessions annually and consulting with potential grant applicants as needed. <br />Increased arts audiences through collaborations with arts, cultural and community groups, such as <br />the Town of Chapel Hill Public Art & Cultural Arts Office, Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, The <br />ArtsCenter, Durham Arts Council, Raleigh Arts Commission, United Arts of Raleigh/Wake County, <br />Alamance County Arts Council, Chatham County Arts Council, Cumberland County Arts Council, <br />etc. Increased quality of professional /skills development workshops for artists and arts <br />organizations by securing excellent presenters with expertise in art- related topics. <br />Utilized Orange County's arts economic impact statistics (documented in Americans for the Arts <br />statewide and national arts economic impact study results released June 2012) in media (Our <br />State Magazine co -op ad, press releases and newsletters, public meetings, etc.)Encouraged <br />involvement of under - served populations in services and on advisory board. Board and staff have <br />encouraged minorities to apply for grants and to apply for vacant board positions <br />Continue monthly newsletter distribution. New, responsive website and e- newsletter design, by the <br />end of FY 2012 -13.
