Department of Social Services - continued <br />FY 2013 -14 Objectives <br />Ensure families receive quality child care in order for parents to maintain employment. <br />Provide information and resources to families seeking quality child care. <br />Ensure safety and health of children in child care. <br />Budget Highlights <br />There is an increased need for child care subsidies to avoid disruption of services for more than <br />200 children. There is currently a waiting list of more than 300 children in need of care. <br />There is a projected decrease of 8% of state and federal funding for childcare subsidy for FY2013- <br />14. <br />Revenue Reductions: Decreases in Adoption Vendor Payments ($47,500), due to policy changes, <br />and the conclusion of the CPS Early Childhood Mental Health Services grant project ($39,565) <br />• The agency is applying to continue administration of Smart Start subsidy, funded by the Orange <br />County Partnership for Young Children. This will continue to allow for reduced administrative <br />expenses and coordinated access for families. <br />Social Services: Veterans' Services Division <br />This division has merged with the Economic Services division, within the department. <br />Grant Project Fund: Criminal Justice Partnership Program <br />Major Services <br />Provide local Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) programs for juvenile offenders, including <br />Victim /Offender Mediation; Alternative -to- Suspension Program; Emergency Youth Shelter; <br />Parent/Family Counseling; Clinical Case Management; Psychological /Intensive Services; <br />Community Service and Restitution; and Teen Court. <br />FY 2012 -13 Outcomes <br />88% of all youth served in JCPC programs received no new complaints or adjudications while <br />participating in programs. <br />• 98% of youth in the Community Service and Restitution Program had no new adjudications and <br />92% of youth had no new complaints during program participation. <br />72% of youth served showed improvement in targeted skills using individual service plans. <br />• 84% of youth in the Teen Court program completed it successfully. <br />1i U %3 <br />
