I <br />Bud Torian presented a road petition asking that a new road be built <br />'beginning at Glenn's Grove Church to Mr. Ed Gates farm, a distance of <br />four miles. No action was taken. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Laws <br />and unanimously passed that Carl C. Davie, Tax Collector, be given authority <br />to issue beer license to those persons presenting their State permits. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Laws, seconded by Commissioner Wilson it <br />is hereby ordered that Harry P. Woods be paid $5.00 for two halfgrown <br />turkeys killed by dogs. <br />Mrs. Jean M. Hear, Superintendent of Welfare appeared and discussed <br />some of the welfare problems with the Board. <br />E. M. Lynch, Clerk of Superior Court appeared and stated.'that-he bad <br />not been able to take a vacation in several years due to not having an <br />Assistant Clerk of Court and that he had appointed Lucius M. Cheshire as <br />Assistant. The Board approved of the appointment. <br />The Board of Education and Mr. C. W. Davis, Superintendent of Chapel <br />Hill Schools appeared and the two Boards entered into a general discussion <br />pertaining to the proposed school bond election. <br />Mr. H. R. Weeks, Architect, appeared and discussed the proposed new <br />courthouse building and the installation of a heating system in the present <br />courthouse. „ <br />In compliance with statute requiring that the Bury box be revised <br />each two years, J. E. Laws, Clerk to the Board presented a list of names <br />taken from the tax books and asked the Board to check them. <br />After carefully checking these names and eliminating some that had <br />moved out of the county or were otherwise inelligible the Board hereby <br />orders that the names be placed in Jury Box N0. 1. <br />There being no further business, upon motion, adjourned to meet again <br />at 8 o'clock, P.
