THE ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSION FOR WOMEN SUBMITS THE <br /> FOLLOWING PROCLAMATION TO THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS: <br /> WHEREAS, American women of every race,class, and ethnic background have made <br /> historic contributions to the growth and strength of our nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, American women have played and continue to play a critical economic, <br /> cultural, and social role in every sphere of the life of the Nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, American women served as early leaders in the forefront of every major <br /> progressive social change movement; and <br /> WHEREAS, these contributions have been historically overlooked and undervalued in <br /> the literature, teaching, and study of American history; and <br /> WHEREAS, women in Orange County have made and continue to make significant <br /> historical contributions to our community, state, and nation; <br /> NOW THEREFORE, do we,the Commissioners of Orange County,proclaim the month <br /> of March, 1999, as <br /> WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH <br /> and commend this observance to Orange County citizens. <br /> This is the 3rd day of March, 1999. <br /> fl°qi III <br /> ___�__��=-1��.oz-cam <br /> Alice M.
