The State will reimburse the department for all expenses incurred. <br /> • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program — receipt of $1,187 from <br /> the United Way of the Greater Triangle, through the Compass Center, to <br /> provide free tax services for low-to-moderate income citizens. The revenue <br /> will permit an existing permanent, part-time staff member to perform VITA <br /> administrative tasks. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> Department of Social Services <br /> 4. The Department of Social Services has received additional revenues for the <br /> following programs: <br /> • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) — State pass-through funds, <br /> totaling $27,808, for JCPC agency disbursement and personnel costs for <br /> JCPC program administration. <br /> • Child Day Care — receipt of $832,903 to provide childcare services and <br /> subsidies to low-income families. <br /> • Smart Start Enhancement Program — receipt of $247,500 for Smart Start <br /> Subsidized Child Care program administration. The department will pay <br /> program funds directly to childcare providers. <br /> • Youth Transportation — receipt of $5,321 , from the Miles Second Family <br /> Foundation (SFF), to provide transportation services for youths in SFF and <br /> Social Services programs. The revenue will fund two, part-time, <br /> nonpermanent van drivers and subsidize motor pool costs. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 4) <br /> Animal Services <br /> 5. The Animal Services Department has received revenue of $1,556 from the sale of <br /> pet calendars. The department plans to use these funds to purchase two (2) park <br /> benches and waste receptacles for the Animal Services facility. This budget <br /> amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated purposes. <br /> (See Attachment 1, column 5) <br /> Health Department <br /> 6. The Health Department has received additional revenues for the following programs: <br /> • Food and Lodging Program — receipt of $8,025 from the NC Division of <br /> Public Health to ensure consistency and quality of Food and Lodging <br /> permitting and inspection activities. These funds will be used for food, <br /> lodging, and institution sanitation programs and activities, as required by the <br />
