4 <br /> 1 • Orange County Sheriff— Sheriff or Designee— Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass <br /> 2 Alternate —Captain James Nida <br /> 3 • Former Emergency Services Director Frank Montes de Oca <br /> 4 • Board of County Commissioners — Commissioner Earl McKee <br /> 5 Alternate — Former Commissioner Valerie <br /> 6 Foushee <br /> 7 • County Medical Director— Dr. Jane Brice <br /> 8 • Orange County Resident At-Large — Jane Cousins <br /> 9 <br /> 10 WHEREAS, the Emergency Services Workgroup has completed its charge and submitted <br /> 11 recommendations to the Board; <br /> 12 <br /> 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 14 hereby commends and thanks the Emergency Services Workgroup on its efforts to find <br /> 15 consensus and balance on numerous competing and controversial issues facing emergency <br /> 16 services in Orange County and hereby recognizes these members for their community spirit, <br /> 17 expertise and dedication to improving the quality of emergency services for all residents of <br /> 18 Orange County. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 This, the 19th day of March 2013. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> 23 approve Resolution recognizing the Emergency Services Workgroup, comprised of a very <br /> 24 dynamic and diverse group of residents, elected officials, and emergency responders, for <br /> 25 providing a valuable service to Orange County. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 28 <br /> 29 c. Kick-off of Community Giving Fund for Orange County <br /> 30 The Board previewed and considered the kickoff of Orange County's Community Giving <br /> 31 Fund and Orange County's new partnership with Triangle Community Foundation (TCF). <br /> 32 Bob Marotto, Animal Services Director, and part of management team for CGF for <br /> 33 Orange County, introduced himself. He said the Board of County Commissioners approved the <br /> 34 creation of this fund in November to raise and receive donations to enhance services and <br /> 35 county supported activities. He said this would be a preview of the public relations material that <br /> 36 will be used to promote the giving fund. He said an agreement had been entered into with the <br /> 37 Triangle Community Foundation to open an agency fund and a management team had been <br /> 38 created to manage the fund. He said that meetings had been held with TCF to work through <br /> 39 matters such as financial flow and gift acknowledgement. He said that this is all possible <br /> 40 because of the TCF and he introduced Lori O'Keefe. <br /> 41 Lori O'Keefe spoke on behalf of the Board of Directors at TCF, and expressed <br /> 42 excitement about this new partnership with Orange County. She noted that this is a first for <br /> 43 TCF, who tends to work more with non-profits, businesses and families by assisting them in <br /> 44 giving to important causes. She said this fund is a great way to engage other local funders and <br /> 45 government agencies as community partners to work in collaboration to support causes <br /> 46 important to the community. <br /> 47 She gave some background on the organization and said TCF was founded 30 years <br /> 48 ago and serves 4 counties —Orange, Durham, Chatham and Wake. She said TCF funds non- <br /> 49 profits, partners and educates donors, and provides civic leadership around key issues and <br /> 50 opportunities in the community. TCF manages approximately 150 million dollars and over 800 <br />
