Introductions and Opening Comments <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Chair Jacobs welcomed everyone and introductions were made. <br /> 30 AHAB Chair Patsy Barbee reviewed the following goals: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Comprehensive Plan Housing Goals <br /> 33 Housing Overarching Goal: Opportunity for all citizens of Orange County to rent or <br /> 34 purchase safe, decent, accessible, and affordable housing. <br /> 35 Housing Goal 1: A wide range of types and densities of quality housing affordable to all <br /> 36 in all parts of the County. <br /> 37 Housing Goal 2: Housing that is useable by as many people as possible regardless of <br /> 38 age, ability or circumstance. <br /> 39 Housing Goal 3: The preservation, repair, and replacement of existing housing supply. <br /> 40 Housing Goal 4: Development ordinances and incentives that promote inclusionary <br /> 41 practices and housing options for all income levels. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Patsy Barbee said that the 2012/2013 work plan includes implementation of a media <br /> 44 campaign that will stimulate conversation regarding the need for affordable housing in the <br /> 45 community. This campaign will target the county and the towns of Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and <br /> 46 Carrboro. She said that efforts will include brochures and the use of social media. Other work <br /> 47 plan items include encouragement of expenditure of unspent funds from previous bond <br /> 48 referendums and continued recruitment of advisory board members. <br /> 49 She also reviewed concerns and issues for the coming year. These issues include: <br /> 50 exploration of a future bond referendum for affordable housing, the northern Orange County <br /> 51 options, and mobile home standards. <br />
