<br /> Moore County Job Link Activities
<br /> A major focus for the JobLink Career Center this year has been on job seeking skills and job placement
<br /> for our citizens. The Moore County JobLink Career Center partners and friends planned our first Job
<br /> Seekers Academy on May 10, 2012 and delivered the Annual EMPLOYMOORE Job Fair on May 23,
<br /> 2012. We were allowed to use the National Guard Armory in Southern Pines, NC for both events, at no
<br /> cost. Budget was a factor in the planning and execution, but we received donations in the form of time,
<br /> publicity from local media, and other needs that were met by partners and our community, The
<br /> EMPLOYMOORE Job Fair had 35 employers present and over 500 job seekers were served, The Job
<br /> Seekers Academy was very successful in preparing its participants for the upcoming job fair and in their
<br /> job seeking journey„
<br /> Moore County JobLink Career Center Partners were involved in a host of other events:
<br /> • Assisted with the staffing of the Whispering Pines Ha is-Teeter, and Dunkin Donuts.
<br /> • in honor of National Employ the Older Worker hilionth„ a special workshop was held at
<br /> the JobLink Career Center. The Community was invited to the event which was facilitated
<br /> by Robbie Shullt former cc eorate HR manager for Lowes Home Improvement and cur-
<br /> rent Sandhills Community College instructor.
<br /> • Partners and other agencies participated in outdoor-agency fairs in Carthage and Rob-
<br /> bins sponsored by St Joseph of the Pines. Their mobile services unit dubbed the ''Semi"
<br /> was present for use at each.
<br /> • The Moore County JobLink hosted numerous "mini"'job fairs for individual employers in-
<br /> cluding, Harris-Teeter, Two Hawk, Staffing Alliance, Staffmark„ Select Staffing, Resource
<br /> MFG, and Manpower.
<br /> • JobLink partners supported each other's activities on many occasions including
<br /> The Agency Support Fair, Sandh ills Community College Career Fairs for Students, and a
<br /> Career fair for Customers with Disabilities.
<br /> • Our Partner Sandhillis Moore Coalition for Human Care continues to have JobLink Part-
<br /> ners and other volunteers staffing their employment office.
