Civil Disturbance <br />Civil disturbances can include riots, threatening individuals, crimes in progress or a building <br />takeover that has become significantly disruptive. <br />Call 911. Provide the following information: <br />• The name of the group, if known. <br />• The exact location of the group. <br />• The size of the group. <br />• Weapons involved. <br />Avoid the area of the disturbance. <br />Avoid provoking or obstructing demonstrators. <br />If disturbance is outside of the workplace: <br />• Stay inside. <br />• Stay away from doors and windows. <br />• Continue with normal department operations, if possible. <br />• Secure work area (lock doors, safes, files, vital records, and expensive equipment. <br />• Log off computers. <br />• Evacuate if necessary. <br />14 <br />
