Work Session Presentation <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Jeff Thompson, (919) 245 -2658 <br />Wayne Fenton, (919) 245 -2628 <br />Jim Groves, (919) 245 -6100 <br />Darshan Patel, (919) 245 -6135 <br />Archie Daniel, (919) 245 -2922 <br />David Hunt, (919) 245 -2130 <br />Michael Talbert, (919) 245 -2608 <br />1 <br />PURPOSE: To receive an update on the work of the County Threat Assessment and <br />Response Workgroup and to provide Board feedback to staff. <br />BACKGROUND: Members of County staff have worked together within the Threat Assessment <br />and Response Workgroup to provide guidance to the County Manager and staff with regard to <br />the assessment, planning, and response to a range of potential emergent threats. <br />Specifically, the workgroup is focusing three potential threat categories: <br />• weather and other "Acts of God "; <br />• accidents, including fire, hazardous material, and other scenarios; and <br />• workplace threats <br />Members of the Workgroup will give a presentation on its findings, guiding principles, and <br />recommendations for preparations, training, and response to these threat categories. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact with receiving the update. Current and <br />future operations budgets include adequate training and physical security measures across <br />County facilities. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board receive and provide feedback <br />on the update from the County Threat Assessment and Response Workgroup. <br />
