12 <br /> NAME OF BOARD/COMMISSION: Agricultural Preservation Board <br /> Report Period: 2012 <br /> Lands Legacy Action Plan (Goal 8). <br /> If your board/commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory <br /> Board involved in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, <br /> please indicate your board's activities/accomplishments as they may relate <br /> to the Comprehensive Plan's goals or objectives. <br /> (The Element Lead Advisory Boards include: Planning Board, EDC, OUTBoard, <br /> Commission for the Environment, Historic Preservation Commission, Agricultural <br /> Preservation Board, Affordable Housing Board, Parks and Recreation Council) <br /> The APB has continued to advocate for the Agricultural Support Enterprises <br /> project, to help promote agricultural economic development and agricultural <br /> entrepreneurialism (Goal 2, Objective AG-1). <br /> The APB promotes, reviews and recommends Voluntary Agricultural Districts and <br /> Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (Goal 2 Objective AG-1, Goal 8 <br /> Objective AG-9). <br /> The APB promotes efforts to increase purchase and consumption of local foods <br /> (Goal 2, Objective AG-3; Goal 3, Objective AG-7). <br /> Identify any activities this board/commission expects to carry out in 2013 <br /> as they relate to established BOCC goals and priorities. <br /> If applicable, is there a fiscal impact (i.e., funding, staff time, other <br /> resources) associated with these proposed activities (please list). <br /> • Review and possible revisions to the Voluntary Farmland protection <br /> ordinance as per changes to NC General Statutes <br /> • Assist with the 2013 Agricultural Summit <br /> • Explore possible Rural Orange Oral History Project with Orange County <br /> Library (funding possibly via Library) <br /> • Assisting with possible Farm-to-Table Event for 4t"-grade students in fall <br /> 2013 (staff time and funds within DEAPR proposed budget) <br /> • Continuing to promote and recommend Voluntary Agricultural Districts and <br /> Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts <br /> • Assist with the implementation of the 10% Campaign to promote local food <br /> purchasing within County government and among residents. <br /> • Working with the Planning Department on Conditional Use Zoning (Ag <br /> Support Enterprises) effort. <br /> • Coordination with Animal Services Advisory Board on ordinance <br /> provisions. Discussion of possible revisions to Animal Control Ordinance <br /> that impact agricultural operations. <br />
