The Board assists in other programs such as <br /> the annual Agricultural Summit. <br /> What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> • Review and recommendations on 18 approved Voluntary Agricultural <br /> District farms (totaling 3,300 acres), and one Enhanced Voluntary <br /> Agricultural District farm. <br /> • Creation and approval of the Orange County Agricultural Development <br /> and Farmland Protection Plan. <br /> • The 10% Campaign for Local Foods <br /> • Preparation of educational materials on Voluntary Agricultural Districts, <br /> right-to-farm law, and other agricultural topics. <br /> • Assistance in the annual Agricultural Summit. <br /> • Participated in discussion with Animal Services Advisory Board <br /> subcommittee on possible nuisance issue. <br /> • Developed list of livestock operations for Animal Services department. <br /> • Convening meeting of all county agricultural boards and committees for <br /> joint goal-setting and planning. <br /> List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored <br /> Annually. <br /> Assist in the annual Agricultural Summit. Biennial/triennial meeting of all <br /> agricultural boards. <br /> Describe this board/commission's activities/accomplishments in carrying <br /> out BOCC goal(s)/priorities, if applicable. <br /> The APB promotes and reviews and recommends new Voluntary Agricultural <br /> Districts that help protect farmland (Comp Plan, Natural and Cultural Systems <br /> Goal 2). <br /> The Board oversaw the creation of a long-term plan for agricultural development <br /> and farmland protection, and is working to implement the provision of that plan. <br /> (Goal 2, Goal 5). <br /> The APB stays abreast of emerging trends in agriculture, and advises the Board <br /> of Commissioners of new issues or concerns — such as Agricultural Support <br /> Enterprises (Goal 5) <br /> The APB makes recommendations on goals and objectives for the triennial <br />
