Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Atlas Amendment Outline and Schedule for <br /> Upcoming Item — Orange-Alamance County Line Adjustment <br /> The Board considered processes components and schedule for a Planning Director <br /> initiated item for amendments to the Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map and Zoning <br /> Atlas related to the finalization of the Orange-Alamance County Line, currently scheduled for <br /> the May 28, 2013 Quarterly Public Hearing. <br /> For the purpose of informing the new Board members, Craig Benedict presented a PowerPoint <br /> Presentation on the background information. He referred to the slides that follow: <br /> February 5, 2013 <br /> AGENDA ITEM <br /> Comprehensive Land Use Element Map and Zoning Atlas Amendments — Orange <br /> Alamance Line <br /> ORANGE-ALAMANCE COUNTY BOUNDARY LINE REPORT (Graphic) <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> • Boundary line had become `uncertain' over the years creating contradictory maps. <br /> • Both the Orange and Alamance County Board of Commissioners requested the North <br /> Carolina Geodetic Survey (NCGS) prepare preliminary surveys linking description to <br /> field monuments <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> • Both Counties initiated process <br /> • Adoption of Session Law 2010-61 petition criteria to `adjust the line' <br /> • Project involved numerous Orange County departments including, but not limited to: <br /> Manager's office, Planning, Land Records, Tax Administration, GIS, Attorney's office, <br /> Health Department, etc. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> • 91% Line' was resolved with the passing of Session Law 2011-88 on May 25, 2011 <br />
