Smart Start Grant TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br /> Project Ordinance Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> Mebane 336-227-2031 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve budget ordinance amendments and grant project ordinance for fiscal <br /> year 2000-01. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Department on Aging <br /> 1. Recently, the Department on Aging, the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center and the <br /> Herald Sun entered into an arrangement for editing the Senior Times. A temporary <br /> employee in the Department on Aging will edit the Times. In turn, the Herald Sun and the <br /> Friends will reimburse the Department on Aging for all costs associated with this <br /> arrangement. This budget amendment provides for reimbursement from the Herald Sun <br /> ($6,400) and the Friends ($3,334). No county funds are associated with this amendment <br /> (see Attachment 1, column 1 of this abstract). <br /> Health Department <br /> 2. The Health Department has received. increases for the Smart Start grant funded programs <br /> operated by the Department. The increases allow for salary adjustments approved by the <br /> Board of Commissioners during the budget process last spring. The table below <br /> summarizes the amounts by individual programs within the Smart Start Grant Project <br /> Ordinance. <br />
