A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> appoint Virginia Brown to a term expiring June 30, 2015 to the Advisory Board on Aging. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 6; No, 1 (Commissioner Dorosin) <br /> Commissioner Dorosin said that he would like to talk about the process about <br /> appointments to the boards and the process at another work session. He said that he <br /> encouraged someone to apply and sent his recommendation to the chair of the board, and it <br /> was suggested that this was inappropriate and that the board should choose their applicants <br /> independently. He is not sure about the best and most respectful way to do this when he <br /> knows of someone that would be good for a certain board. <br /> Chair Jacobs said that there is some time on January 29th set aside for boards and <br /> commissions. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> appoint Lorenzo Mejia to one of the vacant positions. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> b. Agricultural Preservation Board —Appointment <br /> The Board considered making an appointment to the Agricultural Preservation Board. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> appoint Ashley Parker to a term expiring June 30, 2015 to the Agricultural Preservation Board. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> C. Orange County Parks and Recreation Council <br /> The Board considered making an appointment to the Orange County Parks and <br /> Recreation Council. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> appoint Erin Dillard to a term expiring March 31, 2013 to the Orange County Parks and <br /> Recreation Council. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 12. Board Comments <br /> Commissioner Pelissier, Commissioner Rich, and Commissioner McKee had no <br /> comment. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin said that on February 2nd there is a forum on student discipline <br /> and student success at the Century Center from 1:00-4:00. He is delivering the keynote <br /> address. <br /> Commissioner Gordon said that the NCDOT staff gave a new schedule that delays the <br /> adoption of TIP for one year. <br /> Chair Jacobs said that the 15th annual Agricultural Summit is February 11 th at the <br /> Schley Grange Hall. <br /> 13.
