5 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 3 <br /> 4 PROCLAMATION <br /> 5 <br /> 6 HUMAN RELATIONS MONTH <br /> 7 <br /> 8 WHEREAS, the Orange County Human Relations Commission believes that in order to <br /> 9 achieve justice and equal opportunity for all Orange County residents, we must all strive to <br /> 10 create an atmosphere where people are valued and accepted rather than merely tolerated, and <br /> 11 therefore continue to promote the ideal of social justice for all; and <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, the Orange County Human Relations Commission has diligently served <br /> 14 Orange County since 1995 and remains committed to promoting equal treatment, opportunity <br /> 15 and understanding throughout the community; and <br /> 16 <br /> 17 WHEREAS, the Orange County Human Relations Commission enforces the County's <br /> 18 Civil Rights Ordinance which specifically prohibits discrimination based on an individual's race, <br /> 19 color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status and familial status; and <br /> 20 <br /> 21 WHEREAS, the Orange County Human Relations Commission encourages Orange <br /> 22 County residents, as individuals, to take a stand against social injustice and continue to work <br /> 23 together to make freedom, justice, and equal opportunity available for all; and <br /> 24 <br /> 25 WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to preserving the progress made thus far <br /> 26 towards equality and leading the challenge for equal opportunity using all the means at our <br /> 27 disposal; <br /> 28 <br /> 29 NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br /> 30 February 2013 as "HUMAN RELATIONS MONTH" in Orange County and challenge our <br /> 31 residents to promote the ideology of social justice for all by celebrating and encouraging <br /> 32 multiculturalism in the County and encouraging all residents to embrace diversity in Orange <br /> 33 County. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 This the 24th day of January, 2013. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 <br /> 38 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> 39 adopt the proclamation officially proclaiming the month of February as "Human Relations <br /> 40 Month" in Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation <br /> 41 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Commissioner Price recognized subcommittee members that have been participating in <br /> 44 the 150th year of the Emancipation Proclamation. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 f. Voluntary Agricultural District Designation for Multiple Farms — Rogers <br /> 47 (Three Farms/Landowners); Shambley; and Lackey <br /> 48 The Board considered applications from multiple landowners/farms to certify qualifying <br /> 49 farmland within the Cedar Grove, Buckhorn, and Caldwell voluntary agricultural district, and <br />
