COPS in Schools Program <br /> Grant Project Ordinance <br /> Be it ordained by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners that pursuant to Section 13.2 of <br /> Chapter 159 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, the following grant project is hereby adopted. <br /> Section 1. The project authorized is the COPS in Schools Program as awarded to the Orange County <br /> Sheriffs Department by the US Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing <br /> Services..This three year award is an initiative on the part of the US Department of Justice for <br /> locating officers in schools. <br /> Section 2. Under the terms of the agreement, Orange County will administer the grant as fiscal agent. The <br /> officers of the County are hereby directed to proceed with the grant project within the grant <br /> document,the rules and regulations of the US Department of Justice, Community Oriented <br /> Policing Services. <br /> Section 3. The following revenue is anticipated to be available to complete this project: <br /> Intergovernmental(1998-00) $40,272 <br /> Intergovernmental(1999-00) $161,089 <br /> Intergovernmental(2000-01) $161,089 <br /> Intergovernmental(2001-02) $120,817 <br /> Total Intergovernmental $483,267 <br /> Section 4. Approximately seventy-five percent of the total cost of this project is funded by grant funds. <br /> The required match for this grant is included in funds appropriated in the general fund to be <br /> transferred to this capital project. Future years' allocations are subject to Board of County <br /> Commissioners annual appropriations. <br /> Transfers from the General Fund(1998-99) $10,068 <br /> Transfer from the General Fund(1999-00) $40,272 <br /> Transfer from the General Fund (2000-01) $40,272 <br /> Transfer from the General Fund (2001-02) $30,205 <br /> Total General Fund Match $120,817 <br /> Section 5. The following amount is appropriated for this project over the three year period: <br /> Public Safety- COPS in Schools $604,084 <br />
