2 <br /> The District recently solicited bids for architectural services, and the low bidder was Corley, <br /> Redfoot and Zack at an amount of $1,250,000. In order to award the contract, the School <br /> Board requests that the Commissioners approve the attached New Orange County High School <br /> Capital Project Ordinance appropriating the additional funds required to for the contract. With <br /> the approval of the attached capital project ordinance, the approved appropriation for the <br /> project will be $1,929,336. <br /> Approval of Parking Lot Repairs at Culbreth Middle School <br /> Included in the Recommended 2000-10 Capital Investment Plan is an appropriation in fiscal <br /> year 2000-01 totaling $405,000 for paving and parking lot renovations at several schools in the <br /> Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools District. Of that total amount, $200,000 provides for parking <br /> lot repairs and paving at Culbreth Middle School. According to the attached memo from Bill <br /> Mullin, Director of Facilities Management for the District, the present condition of the driveways <br /> and lots is deteriorated and dangerous. The District identifies a need to begin work in early <br /> June as the school year ends to ensure completion of the work before the beginning of the next <br /> school year. Therefore, the District needs to solicit bids now in order for the timetables to fall <br /> into place. To that end, there must be a capital project ordinance in place. The District requests <br /> that the Commissioners approve a $200,000 appropriation to the Paving Parking Lot <br /> Renovations Capital Project Ordinance for Culbreth Middle School <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br /> adopt the attached capital project ordinances for Orange County Schools and .Chapel Hill- <br /> Carrboro City Schools. <br />
