2 <br /> Amendments for Items Included in the 9999-09 Capital Investment Plan <br /> 2. Orange County Schools <br /> To-date, the Board has approved all Level 1 capital project ordinances for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro <br /> City Schools, including small scope, in-house renovations and technology. Recently, the Orange <br /> County Schools requested that the Board of Commissioners approve four Level 1 capital project <br /> ordinances for the system. As the Board may recall, Level 1 projects have a relatively small scope of <br /> work or entail purchasing equipment and vehicles. The District requested approval of the following <br /> projects: <br /> Capital Project 1999-00 CIP Funding Source . <br /> Appropriation(as <br /> included in the <br /> approved 1999-09 <br /> CIP <br /> Energy Management Systems — installation of $200,000 1997 Bond Funds <br /> computer controlled energy management direct <br /> digital systems to heating and air conditioning <br /> units. <br /> Handicapped Accessibility — modification and $35,983 1997 Bond Funds <br /> additions to improve handicapped accessibility. <br /> throughout all buildings,playing f elds, and parking <br /> lots on seven campuses. <br /> Orange High Renovations — renovations to $450,000 1997 Bond Funds <br /> Orange High School <br /> Technology — purchase equipment including $625,000 1997 Bond Funds <br /> computers, file servers, telecommunications and <br /> video equipment, and retrofit facilities. <br /> The attached capital project ordinances provide funding as outlined above. <br /> Amendments for New Items Not Approved by Prior Board Action <br /> 3. Health Department <br /> The Environmental Health division of the Health Department has received an additional allocation <br /> from the State. The funds, totaling $3,869, provide funds to offset costs of training personnel. No <br /> County match is required for receipt of these funds. Column #3 on the Budget As Amended <br /> Spreadsheet(page 3 of this abstract) provides for the receipt of the State funds.. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br /> approve the budget amendments and the capital project ordinances as outlined above. <br />
