APPROVED 8/19/2008 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD <br /> QUARTERLY PUBLIC HEARING <br /> May 19, 2008 <br /> 7:30 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners and the Orange County Planning Board <br /> met for a Quarterly Public Hearing continuation meeting on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> in the.F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs and Commissioners Valerie <br /> Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, and Mike Nelson <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Moses Carey, Jr. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geof Gledhill <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: Assistant County Manager Willie Best and Deputy Clerk to <br /> the Board David Hunt (All other staff members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Jay Bryan and Members Craufurd <br /> Goodwin, Renee Price, Judith Wegner, Michelle Kempinski, Bernadette Pelissier, and Larry <br /> Wright <br /> PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Jeffrey Schmitt, Joel Knight, and Brian <br /> Crawford <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:37 pm. <br /> A. OPENING REMARKS FROM THE CHAIRS - Barry Jacobs and PB Chair Jay Bryan <br /> Jay Bryan welcomed everyone. <br /> Chair Jacobs made reference to the special use permit. <br /> Jay Bryan said that, due to an oversight regarding a notice, which is a legal requirement <br /> for such matters, the special use permit will be postponed to a later meeting for a public hearing. <br /> Geof Gledhill said that the County Commissioners would reschedule this public hearing <br /> and there would,be proper notice given far enough in advance. <br /> Chair Jacobs said that if residents live within the area, they will get a written, official <br /> notice from the County. If any residents are concerned that they might not get a notice, then <br /> they should give their contact information to the Clerk. <br /> B. PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> The Board of Commissioners pledges to the citizens of Orange County its respect. The <br /> Board asks its citizens to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the <br /> Board and with fellow citizens. At any time should any member of the Board or any citizen fail <br /> to observe this public charge, the Chair will ask the offending member to leave the meeting until <br /> that individual regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will <br /> recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed. <br /> All electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, and computers should please be turned off <br /> or set to silent/vibrate. <br />
