NORTH CAROLINA <br /> RESOLUTION REGARDING <br /> ORANGE COUNTY LEGISLATIVE MATTERS <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of <br /> Orange County that the Board hereby requests the Senators and <br /> Representatives representing Orange County to support <br /> legislation regarding the following matters : <br /> (a) authorization for Orange County to adopt an ordinance <br /> levying a tax on the impact of land development within the <br /> county to provide for capital improvements to public schools <br /> within the county by either supporting generally the provisions <br /> of H857/S725 (1999 Session) which authorize an Orange County <br /> impact tax or by supporting a separate bill introduced during <br /> the Short Session accomplishing the same purpose; <br /> (b) legislation which preserves farmland and promotes <br /> small farms (H1132 and S930 (1999 Session) ) ; <br /> (c) promoting agriculture/alternative farming- and <br /> agricultural practices by, for example, addressing regulatory <br /> processes which may impact farmers' pursuits of viable options <br /> to enhance, augment or supplement standard farming activities <br /> and provide a special appropriation to Orange County for local <br /> activities which promote making agriculture viable and provide <br /> alternative farming and agricultural practices, for example, <br /> through the creation of an agricultural center; <br />
