Work objectives include providing information on the <br /> arts to artists,arts organizations and the public(via website, press releases, email, monthly e- <br /> newsletters, printed promotional materials), administering all aspects of the grants/recognition <br /> programs, developing and facilitating community forums/workshops, providing staff support for the <br /> OCAC Advisory Board, assisting in the development of a strong community arts network,and <br /> organizing and overseeing all aspects of special arts programs and projects. <br /> The Administrative Assistant's total salary and benefits for current year(FY1 3)is$48,955($35,107 in <br /> salary; $13,848 in benefits).Avery small portion of the Administrative Assistants time-estimated <br /> value of approximately$2,000- is allocated to the Orange County Arts Commission. <br /> Responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant involve primarily budget management via access to <br /> county's financial system (vendor numbers, check requests, etc.). <br /> Describe your board of directors and its key responsibilities. Describe your board rotation <br /> policy and how now members are recruited and trained. <br /> Our current 15-member Advisory Board includes 2 African-Americans;the rest are White. <br /> Geographically, they represent Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Mebane (the part of Mebane <br /> located within Orange County), Efland and Durham (the part of Durham located within Orange <br /> County. Currently, our advisory board consists of 5 males and 10 females. Our board members range <br /> in age from the late twenty's to the mid-seventies. <br /> Our Advisory Board members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners(BOCC)of <br /> Orange County. <br /> We suggest the names of interested volunteer applicants to the BOCC throughout the year as <br /> vacancies occur. Our board members are appointed by the BOCC for 3-year terms. Board members <br /> can serve 2 consecutive 3-year terms before they have to rotate off the board for at least one year. <br /> After that time, they can apply to the BOCC to be considered for re-appointment. We have several <br /> board members that have been re-appointed to the Arts Commission Advisory Board after serving the <br /> maximum of six years and rotating off for one year. <br /> Once volunteer(s)are appointed by the BOCC,the Orange County Arts Commission(OCAC)Board <br /> Chair and the Arts Commission Coordinator meet with them for a"new member orientation" prior to <br /> their first board meeting. <br /> We have 2 standing committees:the Executive Committee and the Nominating Committee. <br /> #DCP0004 Page 12 <br />
