Comprehensive Assessment of Emergency Medical Services and 911/ <br /> 30 Communications Center Operations Study <br /> 31 The Board considered accepting the Comprehensive Assessment of Emergency <br /> 32 Medical Services & 911/Communications Center Operations Study dated October 2012, which <br /> 33 has been reviewed and evaluated by the Emergency Services Workgroup (ESW) along with <br /> 34 input from stakeholders. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Michael Harvey introduced this item. <br /> 37 The Orange County 911 Center is the public safety answering point for residents to <br /> 38 access emergency services agencies. It originated in the former Orange County Sheriff's <br /> 39 Office at Columbia and Rosemary Streets in Chapel Hill. It is a branch of Orange County <br /> 40 Emergency Services and is staffed by dedicated professionals around the clock. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 On December 13, 2011 the Board discussed the Emergency Medical System Delivery and <br /> 43 E911 Communications Center improvements. There was consensus that the County needed to <br /> 44 develop a strategic plan to improve the County's Emergency Management Services Delivery <br /> 45 System and E911 Communications Center. The Charge for the ESW included reviewing <br /> 46 alternatives and making recommendations for the following: <br /> 47 • System improvements for EMS Ambulance response times including but not <br /> 48 limited to equipment, staffing, facilities and/or a strategic plan, to define data <br /> 49 elements for meaningful analytical data as related to ambulance response time <br /> 50 and to discuss and review that data. <br />
