(Also applies to Priority 1 above) <br />The County has created an internal Environmental <br />Stewardship Action Committee (ESAC) to focus on <br />implementing the ER Goal, and institutionalizing <br />environmentally - responsible and sustainable practices within <br />County government. A set of action strategies to accomplish <br />the ER Goal has been created and reviewed by the ESAC. <br />Several objectives with the ER Goal have been implemented <br />to date, and others studied. A progress report on the ER <br />Goal activities is presented to the BOCC annually — the most <br />recent one having occurred in October 2012. <br />DEAPR has instituted internal sustainable forestry practices <br />and a sustainable landscaping policy to guide forestry <br />activities on County lands and grounds maintenance. <br />2013 UPDATE from Solid Waste Management <br />• The Solid Waste Department provides a wide variety of <br />convenient, effective, high - quality recycling services and <br />waste reduction education to foster environmental <br />protection by conserving resources, properly managing <br />hazardous materials, meeting or exceeding all landfill <br />regulations /standards, and reducing pollution through use <br />of recycled materials and composting. (also relates to <br />Priority 16) <br />2013 UPDATE from Asset Management Services <br />• AMS has worked closely with DEAPR & Solid Waste to <br />begin implementing the approved Environmental <br />Responsibility Goals; <br />• AMS has developed utility, fuel and water conservation <br />goals and a related "scorecard" system to measure <br />results that are easily communicated to the BOCC each <br />year; these goals are related to the Utility, Fuel and <br />Water Conservation Policies approved by the BOCC in <br />2006; <br />• AMS is updating the Utility, Fuel & Water policies for <br />action by the BOCC during the Spring of 2013. <br />Priority 15: Complete stewardship and management plans for Lands <br />Legacy. <br />
