Adopted a Code of Ethics for SWAB Members that is based on th <br />other Boards and Commissions that are organic to the County (i.e <br />comprised of members appointed by multiple jurisdictions). <br /> <br />2. Sponsored a presentation by Dr. Christopher Heaney (UNC) and <br />David Caldwell and Robert Campbell (RENA) titled “Relation betwe <br />malodor, ambient hydrogen sulfide, and health in a community bor <br />land fill.” <br /> <br />3. Provided advice and feedback (from representative jurisdictio <br />Waste staff, and entertained public comments, on various issues, <br />including: <br /> <br /> Reviewed the Three-year update (for 2009) to the Solid Waste Pl <br />· <br />submittal (in 2011) to the North Carolina DHENR. <br /> Planning and development of the new Walnut Grove convenience <br />· <br />center in accord with the Solid Waste Plan <br /> Alternative technologies for handling solid waste <br />· <br /> Long-term strategies and options for handling solid waste in a <br />· <br />post-closure environment, <br /> Mitigation plans and efforts for the Rogers Road area, and <br />· <br /> Pros and cons of single stream recycling for both incorporated <br />· <br />some unincorporated portions of the county in accord with the So <br />Waste Plan. <br /> <br />For 2012 <br /> <br />Provided input to Solid Waste Staff on: <br />1. <br />development of upgrade of the Walnut Grove Convenience Center in <br /> <br />·· <br />·· <br />accord with the Solid Waste Plan adopted by Orange County and <br />Municipalities. <br />continued development of the Landfill Gas recovery Project <br /> <br />·· <br />·· <br />landfill neighborhood cleanup plans and operation <br /> <br />·· <br />·· <br />pending Landfill closure, and <br /> <br />·· <br />·· <br />implementation of single stream recycling. <br /> <br />·· <br />·· <br /> <br />Despite the dwindling representation of the signatories to the current <br />2. <br />Interlocal Agreement (ILA), the SWAB continued to struggle with <br />for those signatories to draft a new ILA that recognizes the rea <br />changed solid waste landscape in Orange County, while also eithe <br />providing a roadmap and structure for the SWABconsonant with those <br /> <br /> <br />
