67 <br />Board or Commission: Orange County Nursing Home Community <br />Advisory Committee <br /> <br />Report Period: 2012 <br />Preparing reports as required by the North Carolina Division of <br /> <br />· <br />specifically observed concerns and generally held long-term care <br />reporting resolutions of prior reported concerns <br />Serving as a nucleus for increased community involvement in the <br /> <br />· <br />Promoting community education and awareness of the needs of resi <br /> <br />· <br />long-term care facilities <br />Working toward keeping the public informed about aspects of long <br /> <br />· <br />the operations of nursing homes in their county <br /> <br /> <br />· <br />What are your Board/Commissions most important accomplishments? <br /> <br /> The team has improved living conditions at each of the nursing <br />· <br />County by diligently staying informed about issues affecting sen <br />quarterly visits to their assigned homes, writing reports for ea <br />following up on previous observations. <br /> Teams have established an excellent rapport with administration <br />· <br />personnel at each facility we visit. These relationships direct <br />to improve observed conditions for the residents we serve. Comm <br />concerns are well-received and promptly addressed in each case. <br /> Each team focused on improving scheduled physical activity prog <br />· <br />nursing home in 2012. This special emphasis will continue in 20 <br /> Volunteers have brought many diverse professional and personal <br />· <br />the group. Many have professional backgrounds in medicine, soci <br />occupational therapy, industrial hygiene and teaching among othe <br />aptitudes and talents are readily shared with the group. <br /> <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponso <br /> <br /> Our team of 8 to 12 members makes quarterly visits in pairs or <br />· <br />each nursing home in Orange County and prepares written reports <br />visits. Each report is reviewed by our ombudsman then made avai <br />public via the BOCC website. <br /> The Dept. of Aging sponsors community awareness events each yea <br />· <br />OCNHCAC staffs a table at these events. <br /> Committee members regularly attend local, regional and state co <br />· <br />forums related to nursing home residents care and welfare. <br /> <br />Describe this board/commissions activities/accomplishments in c <br />BOCC goal(s)/priorities, if applicable. <br /> <br /> The BOCC supports the group by allowing us to use space on th <br />for open volunteer positions and approves volunteer appointments <br /> <br /> <br />
