Promote harmonious relations within the County through hearin <br />process of law. <br /> <br />What are your Board/Commissions most important accomplishments? <br /> <br />1. Organized and sponsored the 2012 Human Relations Month Forum <br />Defining Marriage in North Carolina by Constitutional Amendment <br />Implications? The panelists included: Stuart Campbell, Executiv <br />North Carolina; Maxine Eichner, Professor - UNC-CH School of Law <br />Webb-Mitchell, Visiting Professor North Carolina Central Unive <br />Pham served as Moderator for the Forum. <br />2. Continued implementation of the Building Integrated Communiti <br />discuss ways to engage the immigrant community in governmental a <br />3. Adopted a resolution requesting the BOCC take the appropriate <br />Civil Rights Ordinance to include sexual orientation and sexual <br />classes and that this matter be included in the legislative agen <br />County Legislative Delegation for the next legislative session. <br />4. Reviewed the BOCC Advisory Board Policy and crafted the Human <br />Commission Policies and Procedures in accordance therewith. Als <br />optimal membership size and made a recommendation to the BOCC to <br />size of 18. <br />5. Held the 2011 Pauli Murray Awards Ceremony on February 26, 20 <br />community service awards were given to a Youth Joseph DeVito; <br />Maggie West; and Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Add <br />middle and high school students participated in an Essay Contest <br />and third prizes. <br />6. Developed a plan for more regular attendance at Board of Coun <br />meetings in order to stay informed regarding issues that may hav <br />implications. <br />7. The Emancipation Proclamation subcommittee began making plans <br />th <br />Countys commemoration of the 150 Anniversary of the issuance of Emancipation <br />Proclamation in 2013. <br /> <br />. <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponso <br /> <br />Provide proclamations recognizing Human Rights Week, Human Right <br />Bill of Rights Day in December of each year, Human Relations Mon <br />for Fair Housing Month in April. <br /> <br />Organized and sponsored the annual Human Relations Month Forum t <br />February as Human Relations Month. <br /> <br />Organize and sponsor the Annual Pauli Murray Awards Ceremony. <br /> <br /> <br />
