6 <br />NAME OF BOARD/COMMISSION: Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) <br />January 2012 December 2012 <br />Report Period: <br />Profile presentation. In 2012, these included the Orange Count <br />of the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, Pet Overpopulation ControlNor <br />Carolina, AnimalKind, Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic an <br />Carolina representative of the Humane Society of the United Stat <br /> <br />Also, the ASAB again worked with staff to review funding applica <br />outside agencies. Through this process, the board sought to id <br />agencies that augment the animal services provided by the Coun <br />in the case of Triangle Wildlife Rehab Clinic, remove some of th <br />from staff in responding to wildlife questions from the communit <br />them to focus on the goals of Animal Services <br /> <br />The ASAB coordinated with staff to address two specific issues r <br />residents of the county, namely, whether noise from crowing roos <br />should be regulated and the identification of shelter animals. <br />closely coordinated with staff to review these issues, and prepa <br />reports with carefully formulated recommendations for the BOCC. <br /> <br />Along with ASAB Chair and Animal Services Director, members of t <br />ASAB met with the Chair and Vice Chair of the Agricultural Prese <br />Board (APB) and the DEAPR Director to discuss the issue of crowi <br />roosters and noise control. One outcome was agreement to appro <br />Countys new Director of Public Affairs to consider how to bring <br />range of attributes of rural life to people who may be consideri <br />County as a home. Another outcome was continued discussion of o <br />points of interface between the ASAB and APB, e.g., disaster res <br />livestock and other large animals. <br /> <br />In addition, the ASAB continued to work with staff to support an <br />a strategic plan for managing pet overpopulation.
