GORDON <br />BERNADET%E PEUSS /ER <br />RENEE PRICE <br />PENNY RICH <br />January 16, 2013 <br />Dear Commissioners, <br />INFORMATION ITEM <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />POST OFFICE BOX 8181 <br />200 SOUTH CAMERON STREET <br />HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278 <br />At the Board's December 11, 2012 regular meeting, three petitions were brought forth by <br />Commissioners, which were reviewed by the ChairNice Chair /Manager Agenda team and the <br />petitions and responses are below. <br />1) Review and consider request by Commissioner Gordon that the Board receive an update in <br />February 2013 on efforts related to the Addressing and Road - Naming Ordinance, including the <br />work done so far, implementation plans for 2013, and actions residents need to take including how <br />to comply with the Ordinance and learn new addresses. <br />Response: Tax Administrator is making preliminary plans to provide an update at the <br />February 19th BOCC regular meeting. <br />2) Review and consider request by Commissioner Price that the Board revisit the issues /goals /etc. <br />related to the previously sun -set Commission for Women and determine if its goals are still being <br />met. <br />Response: Housing, Human Rights and Community Development Director Tara Fikes will <br />discuss these concerns with Commissioner Price and will include a written follow -up to the <br />entire Board. <br />3) Review and consider suggestion by Commissioner Dorosin that staff consider some ways to inform <br />the public of items on the consent agenda during the meeting <br />Response: Members of the public attending regular meetings have access to hard copies of <br />agenda; agenda is posted beside the web stream on the internet; and the Director of Public <br />Affairs to address this issue as concerns the television audience. <br />This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the January 24, 2013 agenda for public <br />information. <br />CC: Frank Clifton, County Manager <br />Dwane Brinson, Tax Administrator <br />Tara Fikes, Housing, Human Rights and Community Development Director <br />Carla Banks, Director of Public Affairs <br />www. co. orange. nc. us <br />Protecting and preserving — People, Resources, Quality of Life <br />Orange County, North Carolina — You Count! <br />(919) 245 -2130 • FAX (919) 644 -0246 <br />
