We provide <br />caregivers for the elderly who need compassionate, non - medical, in -home <br />care and prefer to stay at home rather than move to an assisted living <br />facility. We had several weeks of industry training and expect to begin <br />dementia care training soon with the Alzheimers Foundation of America. <br />We are members of Companion Connection, a national membership <br />organization of professionals devoted to in -home senior care. Through <br />Companion Connection, we receive ongoing education and stay abreast of <br />industry issues, trends and best practices. <br />My interest in aging issues stems from the experience I had caring for my <br />mother. As her health and independence declined, it became critical for us <br />to locate and understand the community resources available to her. Her <br />needs encompassed suitable senior housing, transportation, access to <br />information, and health services. It would have been overwhelming for her <br />alone, and I am gratified that I was able to advocate for her in her final years <br />and help navigate the confusing landscape of options. This experience <br />made me realize the enormity of the problem, especially for seniors who do <br />not have family nearby to help them.
