R *Rural Area * • NCDOT Transportation Planning Branch • October 18, 2011 • CTP Progress Input So Far • Planning Board, September 7 — Make bicycle recommendations connect to Park and Ride lots on Public Transp. map — Discussion of County's Bicycle Map being more recreation based, vs. commuter based — possibility of adding recommendations to NC 54 and NC 86 (and Coleman Loop Rd) • Public drop -in session, September 14 — Questions about the type of bicycle improvements in the County's plan — Idea for an on- demand or constant minivan transit service for rural areas, could be public - private partnership, possibly using a taxi service Public comment website, open through September 26 — Nothing so far Committee meeting, September 21 — Decided not to display Highway and Public Transp. in MPO area (will have BGMPO map on hand and provide link) — Discussion of bicycle recommendation on Old 86, but decided not to based on information from bicycle advocates that the terrain is not suitable for bicyclists Next Steps • Get your input on the recommendations • CTP committee will review all input on the draft recommendations for incorporation into the CTP • Adoptions will begin in early 2012 • Coordinating with DCHC MPO — Possibility for county -wide plan to be readopted down the road when DCHC CTP is finished • Thank you!
