Orange County Comprehensive Transportation Plan <br />The Board received a presentation from North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />staff and provided Board input prior to a public hearing on the draft Comprehensive <br />Transportation Plan. <br />Comprehensive Planning Supervisor Tom Altieri introduced Sarah Lee from NCDOT <br />Engineer, who presented the draft Orange County Comprehensive Transportation Plan. <br />Sarah Lee made a PowerPoint presentation. <br />Overview <br />• What is a Comprehensive Transportation Plan? <br />• What has been accomplished so far? <br />— Goal: get your input on the recommendations <br />• What are the next steps? <br />MPO / RPO Areas <br />- TARPO = Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization <br />Reminder: <br />- This plan is for RPO area <br />- Encompasses no municipalities <br />(simple compared to most CTPs) <br />What is a CTP? <br />(Comprehensive Transportation Plan) <br />• 4 maps with supporting documentation <br />• Long -range (25 -30 years), multi - modal, fiscally unconstrained (no funding or priorities) <br />— Highway, Public Transportation, Rail, Bicycle, Pedestrian <br />• Replaces previous thoroughfare plans <br />• Provides a "needs list" for year 2035 (high -level planning) <br />• Developed by steering committee with representation from NCDOT, Orange County <br />planning, OUTBoard, and Triangle Area RPO <br />— Coordination with surrounding MPOs and counties <br />• Designed to be easily updated in order to remain relevant <br />
