Art Instructor; Spence's Educational Farm. Chapel Hill, N.0 <br /> May 2008-August 2009.Taught children art and pottery ages ranging from 5-12 yrs old. <br /> Children work with both the wheel and slab methods of pottery. Art classes use mostly recycled <br /> materials and found objects promoting the idea of recycling and "green" art. <br /> Crisis Counselor; Interact. serving Wake counties and surrounding areas. <br /> May 2001-January 2002. Interact is a non-profit organization serving women and children,who <br /> have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Provided shelter staffing, provided <br /> clients with case management, counseling and advocacy. Also responded to crisis lines and <br /> hospital rape response. <br /> Screen printer; ASI Sign Systems. Morrisville, N.0 <br /> January 2000- May 2001. Production screen printer, experience with recycling and burning <br /> screens. Materials screened: Plexiglas, chem.-metal, polymers, and vinyl. Clients; Wake Med, <br /> Duke Children's Hospital, UNC, First Union, N.0 Zoo, Glaxo. <br /> Student Teacher; Washington High School. Washington, N.0 <br /> March 1999-May1999.Taught 9-12 grade students. Classes focused on photography: camera, <br /> film development, composition and subject matter. Art IN classes focused on sculpture: due to <br /> budget constraints, opted for self-portraits using found materials; introducing unconventional <br /> materials as a legitimate art medium. Achievement was the exploration of individualism <br /> through the use of the above medium as a method to self-exploration. <br /> Student Teacher; J.0 Tayloe Elementary, Washington. N.0 <br /> January 1999-March 1999. Taught second and third grade elementary school students. <br /> Classes focused the curriculum on shapes and the use of shapes a s design elements to make <br /> animals, people and environments.Also taught specific classes to reinforced core teachers <br /> curriculum.
