Laura Blackmon said that her understanding, from talking to the other Managers, is that
they are already reeling from what they would need to budget to pay back for 104 acres. If the 60
acres were brought up, there would possibly be a delay in budgeting. If a portion is going to be a
school site, the expectation is that the County would pay for all of that portion.
Chair Jacobs said that the affordable housing community might be able to make an
estimate of the number of units that the 18 acres would accommodate. He said that this could be
discussed at the AOG meeting.
Laura Blackmon reviewed what the County Commissioners asked of staff—a possible
environmental assessment for going south of the 18 acres and a recommendation from staff on
how to regard the 60 acres. She said that for the 104 acres, with a five-year period payback of
6% interest, it would be $91,000 a year for five years. If a portion of the land would be for a
school site, it would be more.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:12 p.m.
Barry Jacobs, Chair
Donna S. Baker, CMC
Clerk to the Board
