' C R I F I C I ' L P 1 E T S C 1 <br /> 00% do <br /> a%,, r� flciaoNi <br /> J <br /> Works ps & Performan s <br /> The following information is designed to help you decide which Sacrificial Poets <br /> workshop or performance is right for your organization or school. <br /> If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us directly. <br /> Sacrificial Poets is an award-winning spoken word poetry organization that serves middle,high school,and college-aged youth in the Triangle Area of North <br /> Carolina.The organization facilitates writing and performance workshops throughout the state and hosts regular youth poetry events.In addition,Sacrificial <br /> Poets selects a team of six youth every year to take to the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival(as seen on HBO). <br /> Sacrificial Poets utilizes their own innovative arts education curriculum,known as YouTh ink.Workshops are based on a culturally responsive pedagogy that <br /> celebrates learning differences,and is designed to benefit participants in four specific ways:enhance emotional literacy,facilitate identity exploration,refine <br /> writing and analytical skills,and develop performance and public speaking competency.Sacrificial Poets does not empower youth,rather we seek to create <br /> diverse,welcoming,and transformative environments where youth can empower themselves. <br /> Graduates of the Sacrificial Poets program have taught and performed at venues across the nation including the 2009 Sundance Film Festival,the 2010 Bonnaroo <br /> Music and Arts Festival,and the historic Nuyorican Poets Cafe,and in 2011 created the Poetic Portraits of a Revolution Project in Egypt and Tunisia.In addition, <br /> poets from our program have gone on to become Southern Fried regional slam champions,National Poetry Slam and Individual World Poetry Slam Finalists. <br /> BOOK SACRIFICIAL POETS <br /> PERFORMANCES WORKSHOPS POETIC JUSTICE <br /> Sacrificial Poets award winning performance Sacrificial Poets workshops range from a single Poetic Justice is 10-week(40 hour)after school <br /> artists are available for a variety of spoken introductory workshop to spark interest,to multi-day program that offers poetry workshops to <br /> word shows and presentations.From the or week series designed to develop specific skills or underserved youth across the Triangle.The <br /> classroom to the boardroom,fundraisers, build on subjects and lessons being studied in class.We program works specifically with students who <br /> organizational meetings,and conferences, also offer workshops for schools,community groups, have learning differences and those who may be <br /> poetry can make your next event stand out! and organizations,both public and private, at risk of dropping out of school.Poetic Justice has <br /> been running successfully since 2010 and has been <br /> 15 min set: $100 hosted at Northern High,Jordan High,the <br /> Durham Performance Learning Center,and <br /> Lakeview School. <br /> 30 min set: $200 <br /> 60 min set: $375 Program: $10,000 <br /> '� Poetic Justice Alumni <br /> Iraqi youth visiting the US work with Sacrificial Poets DJ gets ready to <br /> facilitators to help tell their stories through poetry. record his poem at the <br /> WUNC radio studio. <br /> Each workshop is 60 minutes long.
