2012-13 Arts Program Application — Page Two y <br /> 4 Budget Sheet—See Page Three <br /> 5 Arts Program Application Narrative <br /> Write an application narrative, up to three pages, single spaced, that describes the following <br /> under separate subheadings: <br /> • Organizational Profile—a brief overview your organization's mission and history. <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council (HAC) is a non-profit organization whose primary role is to organize <br /> and promote cultural and educational events featuring local and statewide artists for the <br /> enjoyment and education of the general public. Our mission is "Enriching our community <br /> through the arts." Our programs are funded by grants from the Hillsborough Tourism Board, The <br /> Orange County Arts Commission, the North Carolina Arts Council and by partnerships and <br /> donations. This support allows us to offer some events free of charge, while other programs <br /> charge only a small fee. <br /> Current Programs and Services—a brief list. <br /> Programs and Services of the Hillsborough Arts Council include: <br /> • Hillsborough Last Fridays—Music,crafts,performers and visual art on the Last Friday of the <br /> month <br /> • Hillsborough Handmade Parade—A series of music and puppet-making workshops culminating <br /> in a walking theatrical performance parade <br /> • Parlor Concerts—Classical,jazz and folk music set in historic homes in Hillsborough,NC <br /> • Creative Expression—Junior high and high school students are matched with local artist mentors <br /> • Hillsborough Downtown Arts and Crafts Show—A juried arts and crafts show held on the lawn <br /> of the Visitors' Center each spring <br /> • Hillsborough Arts Council Gallery—Monthly exhibits featuring artists from throughout the <br /> region <br /> • Hillsborough Jazz Festival:Bringing outdoor Jazz performances to Hillsborough area annually <br /> • Free Spirit Freedom: a series of public exhibitions and cultural events that explore common <br /> history and diverse heritage in Orange County. The mission of Free Spirit Freedom is to link <br /> Orange County's past to its future, connect the generations; and build bridges among a broad <br /> spectrum of diverse cultures. <br /> • Hillsborough Sculpture Tour: A select group of juried contemporary sculptures exhibited in <br /> public areas in the heart of the historic district in downtown Hillsborough. <br /> • Proposed Uses of Grant Funds—description including location, date, artists involved. <br /> Include information concerning whether you have undertaken similar activities in the past. <br /> Include approximate number of audience per program; geography of audience; mix of race, <br /> ethnicity, age, and gender. Discuss how arts program will be integrated into the curriculum. <br /> The Hillsborough Arts Council will organize and present Hillsborough Sculpture Tour 2013 beginning <br /> the Last Friday of April 2013 (April 26,2013).Artists have asked that we extend the length of the tour, <br /> and if potential site owners agree,we would like to extend the tour through April 2014. The tour will be <br /> up during the Hillsborough Garden Tour.This will be the second time outdoor sculpture will be exhibited <br /> throughout downtown Historic Hillsborough. Artwork will be displayed on selected grounds of the Town <br /> of Hillsborough,Orange County,and historic sites.The project will begin with a statewide call for artists <br />
