The ArtsCenter: Ballet Folklorico Mexico School Shows—Curriculum Connections 2 <br /> Arts Education Essential Standards <br /> The Ballet Folklorico Mexico performance takes students on a journey to different regions of Mexico <br /> and demonstrates the various customs of each area. Showcasing the different music, instruments, and <br /> dance from these regions, this performance will enhance students' learning of the specific artistic <br /> expressions and will connect with Arts Education Essential Standards. <br /> Arts Education Essential Standard/Skill: develop and present basic analyses of works of art <br /> from structural, historical, and cultural perspectives. This includes the ability to understand and <br /> evaluate work in the various arts disciplines. <br /> Arts Education Essential Standard/Skill: recognize and appreciate exemplary works of art <br /> from a variety of cultures and historical periods and have a basic understanding of historical <br /> development in the arts disciplines, across the arts as a whole, and within cultures. <br /> Arts Education Essential Standard/Skill: relate various arts concepts, skills, and processes <br /> within and across disciplines, which includes understanding the arts in relation to other subject <br /> areas and making connections in a variety of settings, in and outside of school. <br /> Social Studies Essential Standards <br /> As the Ballet Folklorico Mexico performance explores the different regions of Mexico, students will not <br /> only learn about the various artistic expressions that are part of each region's customs and folklore, but <br /> they will also increase their learning of the geography of Mexico and its history, connecting with various <br /> aspects and strands of the new Social Studies Essential Standards.
